Parent consent and the protections below are switching on during the beta. Until then, to withdraw or delete, write to tim@gigawattlab.com.
Who runs it
Reel Coach is a video tool for sports clubs. Coaches upload game film, cut it into clips, and share those clips with their athletes and families. Reel Coach is in beta.
What we collect
For coaches, parents and athletes who sign in: a name, an email address and a password (or a Google sign-in).
For athletes on a club's roster, what the coach enters: name, jersey number, position, team, graduation year, grade point average, a headshot and an action photo, season stats and awards; player and family contact details (email, phone, a parent's name), up to three coach references (name, role, email, phone) and social media handles; and the clips the coach tags them in.
The game film the club uploads, the clips cut from it, and the coach's notes, drawings and voice-overs on those clips.
Who sees a child's clips
A child's clips are seen by the coaches and staff of your child's club, your family, anyone who has a share link a coach creates (a link works for whoever opens it), and other families in the club, in feed posts that name your child.
Contact details and social handles a coach adds may appear on a highlight reel, which anyone with its link can watch.
Nothing of a child reaches their family until a parent or guardian has agreed to how it's used, in the app.
Where it's stored, and who processes it
Everything is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase), in the United States.
These services handle it for us: Google Cloud (Firebase) for hosting and storage; Resend for email delivery; Anthropic, to read team rosters a coach imports, and when a coach connects Claude to their club. Nobody else does.
How long we keep it
A child's profile, photo and clips are kept while your child is with the club, and deleted within 30 days of withdrawing consent or asking us to delete it.
A parent's consent
A parent or guardian agrees once per child, inside their own signed-in account with a verified email. The record keeps who agreed, for which child, when, to which version of the text, and their choice about demo and marketing use.
A parent chooses either to keep clips private, or to allow demo and marketing use. A child's clips are in a social post or a highlight video a coach downloads only when their parent allowed it.
After agreeing, the parent gets an email with what they agreed to and how to withdraw.
A parent's email stays private
The club sees that a parent has agreed and what they chose. It never sees the parent's email address or the consent record itself.
Children's own logins
A child gets their own login only if they are 13 or older and a parent turns it on. Children under 13 never get their own login.
Withdrawing and deleting
A parent can withdraw at any time from the Account tab in the app, or by writing to tim@gigawattlab.com.
Withdrawing unlinks the family and deletes the child's profile, photo, their place on every clip, their share links and highlight reels, and feed posts that name them, within 30 days. The club's own game videos stay with the club.
We keep a record that consent was given and withdrawn, and when.
We send email to verify a parent's address, and to confirm a parent's consent. Confirmation emails are sent through Resend. We don't send marketing email.
No selling
We don't sell or rent anyone's information, and we don't show ads.
